Description of Course
Welcome to our class!
"America" is not simply a place; it is a word. It is an idea.
While America can be located on a map, it would be more accurate to say
that, in a deeper sense, the place where America exists is in language.
Indeed, what constitutes "American"
continues to be a contentious issue. We will consider poems and short
stories that investigate, celebrate, interrogate and re-consider the idea of
America.
I look forward to our semester together!
