OUTLINE 2

Your outline should include:

A) thesis statement
This paragraph should offer your original argument about the text(s) you will be addressing.
By "argument," I mean that you should try to convince your reader of something. In other words, you should make an interpretive claim about the text(s), and your analysis will convince us that your claim is fruitful.

B) textual evidence
Offer a list of (at least) 10 direct quotations. Include the page numbers.
Your direct quotations must support your argument. You should choose moments that touch your imagination (rich imagery, an interesting metaphor, a surprising word). Such language will allow you to "play" with the literature and to arrive at your own creative, interesting insights.

C) a sample paragraph
Write a sample paragraph in which you discuss at least one of your direct quotations.
